Meet Iyaji Cletus, a final year Pharmacy student at the University of Uyo hailing from Cross River State. He ventured into the business of providing quality laboratory coats to students. Recognizing the need for these coats among students in various institutions, he started this venture in 2019 with an initial capital of ₦15,000.

The economic potential of this business is promising, as laboratory coats are not only used by university students but also by secondary school students. He has already seen success in supplying coats to secondary schools and the Faculty of Pharmacy at Uniuyo, generating a profit of ₦35,000 during the 2020/2021 academic sessions.

However, he faced challenges in the early stages of the business and even contemplated giving up at one point. The structure of his business involves taking measurements and outsourcing the coat-making process to tailors. His business is not yet registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Cletus’ mentor in the business is Skeptan Lab Coats at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He believes that entrepreneurs can contribute to the economy by providing job opportunities and skill acquisition programs, ultimately boosting the financial and educational aspects of the state’s economy.

His brand name is “Excel Lab Coats” and he looks forward to collaborating with investors for partnership or funding.
