Mary Joseph Okon bakes cake and makes pastries. She is passionate about her baking business and the satisfaction of her client is of great importance to her. Her brand name is Marisbitez, and she ventured into the baking business in 2021.

Mary avers that her business is lucrative and one can make money from it. According to her, “My business boarders on edibles ranging from cakes, meat pies, small chops and other pastries products. Mary has registered her brand with SMEDAN, trained over 20 people, and upgraded her skills to be able to fit in the competitive market and has an outstanding niche which are the successes recorded in the business.

Dwindling economy change which results in a high cost of raw materials for baking and limited cake tools to work on a large scale are the low points of the business.

Mary has never thought about giving up in the face of challenges before, she believes that challenges exist to bring out the best in her. Instead of giving up, she always thinks of another approach to accommodate and sort out the challenges.

She does the major work alone and delegates other duties to her trainees to encourage them and make them master their craft. Her business is yet to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Policymakers and investors can assist Mary with funds to acquire more baking tools like ovens, spiral mixers, and others, and also partnerships.

She appreciates Mrs. Meflyn Anwana and the organizers of this program for giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to tell their stories.
