Abasieyene Ekong, popularly known as Hofishal Sounds is from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He is a Music Producer, Mixing & Mastering Engineer, and Musical Artist. In his words, “I can boast of being one of the most consistent record producers in my region. I’ve received a few awards due to my consistency and hard work, and I have made raving records and produced for lots of up-and-coming musical artists in and outside Nigeria, especially in the southern part of Nigeria which serves as the starting point of my career. When it comes to Afrobeat and every related sound, I understand its rudiments, and I am blessed with ears for a rhythmic beat. My strength is in my versatility, I play around almost all genres of music, from Afrobeat, RnB, Highlife, Soul, Fusion and even Party/Dance tracks.”

Abasieyene’s passion for making music propelled him to venture into this business in 2016 and he has been doing well since then. Abasieyene attests to the fact that the music production business is lucrative. In his words, “To start with, if there was nothing to go home with at the end of the day I wouldn’t be in this field, so certainly, one can make money from this business. The music business created a job for me and so many other people. People travel from far places just to come to and work with me, those that can’t come down work with me online”.

According to Abasieyene, it cost him over one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000) to get basic equipment to start his home studio in 2016. The high point recorded in his business is his ability to work with artists in the United States, Italy, South Africa and Ghana for a reasonable sum of money while still living in Akwa Ibom. Moreover, his low point is not having all the required equipment to make the work easier, thus making him work harder than someone with the right tools for the work.

Abasieyene declares that he has never thought about giving up in the face of challenges. To him, challenges will always come in every field of work you venture into. Moreover, when he overcomes a certain challenge, he becomes a teacher to those looking up to him.

Abasieyene works alone, and he currently has two trainees. His business is not yet registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. He admires great producers like Don Jazzy, Master Kraft and Chopstix.
